NAME EXPLINATION

GOAL OF THE APP

Staatsbosbeheer is a secluded site that is inaccessible to non Dutch speaking people. After doing research there was a conclusion that the reasoning was to protect the nature as much as possible. I wanted to make an app that lets people socialise and also gives them the opportunity to explore staatsbosbeheer and make it accessible to them. While still keeping in mind that nature needs to be protected.

So at the beginning of this project all I could do is try to work back on my original design. I was obsessed with the idea that this design could be fixed and explained. Only while looking deeper into it I concluded that I wasn't inspired by this design. And in general Didn't like it anymore, I could do better with the design.

So I decided to do a resit, and show my design process. 1. One of my learning goals was: to learn how to show my design process and show how I came to certain design conclusions.

I started this project with sketching, but I noticed that I still was stuck and being to controlled by drawing by hand. So I decided to use a different medium: Ink Blotting. It creates interesting shapes without me doing anything on purpose.
With those creations I returned to digital, by trying to turn them into animals.
I came on a bee design that I really liked, it had a lot of potential for my app. So I decided to design my app with that bee in mind.

2. My other learning goal was to make a functioning app prototype that would be professional.
While working on the app redesign I kept that in mind and tried to make it an overall completed prototype, with a beginning and an end. And make the purpose of the app more obvious. I did this in the beginning by adding instructive information in the app.

I wanted to keep the title as fun as possible while still showing the feeling of the app correctly. Bee is linking to the animal the users are representing. And party is connecting to the purpose of the app: people meeting other people in certain locations in staatsbosbeheer. These are small parties.
