SKETCHES
If we look at a small part of our description of a Culture Raver:

"They have a preference for certain cultures, but don't become a “culturephile”. The Culture Raver is more of a jack of all trades, master of none. What differs from the Explorer type is that the immersion is often found through socialization instead of travel. They are more bound to their study or work and sharing experiences with others. You could say their goal is to experience life to the fullest but within their means."

We see that the Culture Raver feels like the world is theirs (a bit like neocolonialists), they feel like they are Netherlands' experts, or at least they want to be, So they will take every opportunity to become one.

Based on that, we need to find a fitting typography that attracts our Culture Ravers to actually make use of the interface. We also know that they're a bit reckless and also very adventurous, I'm going to take that with me too in the search for a fitting typographical style.
TYPOGRAPHY
Interrail - A European organisation with a similar user group (more like Explorers though) But a typographical style like this would fit my concept and usergroup.
Patterns, adventurous type and vibrant colors would be great keywords for the eventual design.
Feedback by Megan:
Think about the connection with your user, how can this concept be only for Culture Ravers and not also for Dutch locals who want to go on a tour.
Feedback by Arjen on the concept for testing:

Also think about the financial possibilities and practical problems. If people choose only a small part of the route, how will they get back and who pays for it?

FEEDBACK
KIMMY & MEGAN EXERCISES
When you see a black line on your way of scrolling down it means, on the right side there is the feedback that I received at that point.
After thinking about this I came to the conclusion of designing a two-week holiday for a smaller group of expats, the bus will be a small 8-or-12-person bus and in this holiday you will visit each national park on the route, and you arrive back where you started. This also adds the social aspect that I was missing and this tackles the point Megan arose earlier of Dutch locals wanting to profit. This is more specifically for social adventurous young expats, AKA Culture Ravers.
For determining which route this bus will drive we go back to our research, When mappping the collection we found that staatsbosbeheer has carefully selected 20 'National parks'

"A Dutch national park is an area that is protected for its nature and historical significance. There are 20 national parks spread all over the Netherlands, selected for their representation of Dutch nature and wildlife." (source: https://www.iamexpat.nl/lifestyle/sightseeing-attractions-netherlands/dutch-national-parks)

To visit all 20 of these parks in 14 days is too much, it has to be a destressing vacation for the expats. So, I will select the most diverse, relevant and logistically logical parks to create the route for my prototype.
ROUTE SELECTION

To know which National Parks are where, I used the website
An for a better understanding of specially highlighted parks to see te divisitiy of nature that The Netherlands has to offer I found this website:
https://hollandnationalparks.com/en
A map of the highlighted National Park areas. Holland National Parks, 2018 (www.hollandnation
alparks.com/en)
For The sake of the route and seeing the most of Dutch culture, nature and history I will also add National Park 'De Alde Feanen' in Friesland.
PROTOTYPE ONE
BUS DESIGN
The route and design style are based on the previous research, for testing I will ask questions about the aesthetic, if it attracts them and if they would like this as an expat within my specified target group Culture Raver.

The typography is for now based on the appearance in relation to the user group and i implemented the hierarchy knowledge and assignments in the designs.
In the same way I designed a bus stop and the actual bus. Here I definitely chose for an 8-person bus. This is a good size group to make friends for life and that is maybe the main goal for my user group.

For testing, this overview is perfect because it gives the tester a clear view of the whole communication style and the idea. Visuals always help to spark their imagination.
The bus will not be electric, unfortunately. Because of the long distance and the possible heavy load.
DESIGN PROPOSAL
After testing my prototype on 4 people I got a lot of input to tweak my concept and my designs.

You can see these concept and design changes in testing, on this page I will just show the designs.
Feedback by Megan on the design proposal after testing:

Megan thought it was a good proposal but a couple questions popped up:

- Where will this busstop be?

It will be placed in Rotterdam because I want the stranger expats to meet eachother for a life time of friends in the same city in which they both just arrived. A good exact place would be for example the Erasmus University campus, because also the HBO international business has its Hogeschool location there. Other locations could be Rotterdam Centraal and Station Blaak near the markthal.

- Hop on is a bit confusing, make clear in your communication that it is a 6 day holiday and not a hop on hop off bus.

- How is this interface only for international students and not locals?

As you can see in testing I also interviewed a Dutch "culture raver" who said that it's not worth it to go on an expensive holiday to see the Netherlands because she could go for free with her student ov card. Also, they would rather go with own friends than with strangers.

I already adress the international students directly but I will find a way to make it even clearer in the communication by adding sentences like 6 days - memories/friends forever.

Also, Megan raised an important point which I found out in testing that I should highlight more in the design. That is the point Linus raised; "I didn't know The Netherlands even had nature" In communication I can emphasize that to also really attract only internationals and not Dutch locals.

Feedback by Megan on the design changes and presentation

- Make it clear which part of the step you're showing in your presentation

- Make clear how the system works, when will the flags be used for example.

- Visual joke about dutch nature to attract youth even more.

Feedback by Arjen on concept and testing

- Testing was valuable, the concept does not offer much testing possibillities, exept for making expats actually do the 6 day trip. But that would be too expensive.

What I could still think about is where are they going to sleep if they only pay 150 euros. Maybe think about a clever solution for the bus!
An extra visualisation of what makes my interface interesting. For economic reasons the bus is equipped with a technique that can make the chairs into one big bed so that 6 people can sleep inside of the flower bus. For the driver and the others there can be a tent attached to the bus.
